Murray Outdoors is stocked to the gills with Ice Fishing Equipment.  Bob talks us through some neat stuff.
We go to Busse Lake (backwaters of Mississippi River at Guttenberg) to evaluate the thin ice.  About a half inch on 12-5-24.
Our featured guest has a service to get bats out of your house, raccoons out of your attic and control the goose population in a humane way.  Kirk Stout owns and operates Wildlife Specialties.
Come by Murray Outdoors on the South End of Guttenberg under the Big Walleye.
Open Monday-Saturday from 6 am to 5 pm       Sunday 6 am to 3 pm.
Good Luck and Good Fishing.    One week more before ice is safe...

Not much is scarier than falling through the ice into a river.  We talked to a first responder from Guttenberg  who has pulled fishermen out of the water.  We also found two men who stepped up and told us what happened to them as one or more of their party fell into the freezing water and had to fight their way to shore and out of the cold.  This show may be scary but we hope it is instructive so you will prepare for an emergency before you go.
Bob talks about a float suit that one of our survivors was wearing.  Also the use of a spud bar, ice picks and standard life jackets to keep your head above water while you await rescue.

Finally, Bob does his ten day countdown of items he has for Stocking Stuffers.
Thank you for your support.

Bob Urbain and Ken Root found a field reporter and traveler to make this a very informative show, as well as insulting all IOWA football fans.
Les Khune attended the Ice Show in St Paul where there were 200 vendors and manufacturers of Ice Fishing gear.  Great Descriptions   Ken's is best.
Les also talks us through his preparation for Ice Fishing and has some great ideas and procedures so you can be safe, have good gear and catch fish.  Murray's has what you need.
Bob and the crew will be at Murray Outdoors every day:  M-Saturday from 6-5 and Sundays 6 to 3.

Kyle Frommelt, Iowa DNR Technician has the details.
Ice Fishing is NOT safe yet.  Bob will post updates on Facebook.

Second try on posting today.
Fishing is Excellent on the Upper Mississippi but the weather is getting colder.  Bob Urbain predicts some (deranged) fisherman will be on Busse Lake by November 29.  I predict that some fisherman will be IN Busse lake when he tries to stand on it.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL AS YOU START ICE FISHING THIS WINTER.
Today, we have two great interviews.
Tanner Speidel is going after walleye day and night in a kayak or from the bank.  He gives us his tips on finding and catching these fish.  He's also talking about proposing to a beautiful young woman who loves to fish as much as he does.  Bob has a posting on FB (Murray Outdoors) to ask you how you'd propose as a fisherman to a fisherwoman.
(Catfish Al need not apply....Same for Bob)
Rocky Salant is a veteran lure maker who is a one man band.  Quite a career and some really good jigs that he produces.  He talks on how to fish them and what he has for ice fishing this winter.
Bob is transitioning over to ICE FISHING on "Thanksjiggiing Day"  Open all day with sale prices on all jigs in the store.
Have fun, be safe, stay warm.  Come by Murray Outdoors.  South End of Guttenberg under the Big Walleye!

A quote from Bob Urban and backed up by the fishermen who are standing side by side on the fishing barge owned by Jamie Dinger at Landing 615 in Guttenberg, Iowa.
The Saugers are the catch now as sizes and bite are even better than Walleye.
If you love Ring Perch, there are some slabs being caught from shore and along weed lines in both pools.  They are also being hauled in on the barge.
Bob is a busy guy at Murray Outdoors on the South End of Guttenberg, Under the Big Walleye.  Stop by. Get the Latest Information. Buy minnows and artificial baits. Go fishing!
We also talk with Hutch Tackle about their products.  A long time maker of hair jigs and one eyes.  He sells nationwide.  Based in PDC.

Edgewood Locker, strategically located in Clayton County, is one of the largest deer processing plants in the country.  Luke Kerns, an owner of the facility, talks about how to get your deer into their plant and get back all kinds of tasty treats.
Bob runs the cash register all the time he is talking.  We regret the noise but do not apologize.
Good Luck, Good Hunting and Good Fishing.
Be safe out there.   Enjoy Iowa's Finest Season.

Friday Oct 27, 2023

Cooler Weather.  Big River Rising. Fishing is Great. Bow and Black Powder Hunting.  Taxidermist tells how to prepare a Trophy buck.
DNR has info on Blue Tongue Disease in Clayton County.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, both Ken and Bob talked too much.
There were moments of brilliance but they were short.  Please disregard any overtones of Ken and Bob having dinner together on Friday night.
