The Big River is going down but still far above normal.  We direct our listeners to get their bait and tackle at Murray's Outdoors and head inland to some very good fishing. Bring your spouse as you shop as they may love the nursery and gardening side of the store.
You can also head north to fish on Green Bay with a great guide.
Bob sells me a couple of St Croix rods and matches reels and line.
You can find Bob with a water hose in the floral area as the weather turns to REAL spring.

The Big Walleye is still above water at Murray Bait and Tackle on the South Side of Guttenberg.  The big river is running full as we wait for the flood to recede.
Bob Urbain and I talk about the Mississippi River that has crested at 21 feet.  That would be the third highest in modern times.  Everyone is waiting for the water to go down but that could be awhile.
Meanwhile, we talk with Jeff Kopaska at Iowa DNR about what fish do when spring flooding occurs.  Normally, he says, the next age group of fish are larger in number and healthier.  "Fish love Floods!"
Widowmaker Lures has a new jig on the market:  A field tested glittering tungsten minnow and Murray's has all the colors.
The Walleye Challenge Fishing Tournament is for everyone who wants to use their cell phone to enter and log the Walleye, Sauger and Large Mouth Bass they catch in May and June.  Lots of prizes.  Really a service to DNR biologists and a fun way to compete.
If you want to measure your fish in the boat, Murray's has some neat devices.  Dan Sawyer (works Mondays) lays out what is on the shelf.  Up to 60 inches if you need it!
Finally, Murray's has its Flower and Garden section stocked full.  Open 6-5 daily. 6-3 on Sundays.

Yes, the Mississippi is flooding but there is much more to do!
Fishing on trout streams and interior rivers is good.  Small mouth Bass are hitting and the Crappie and Bluegill are biting.
We talk with Iowa DNR.  Lucas Dever explains rules, limits, slot length and fishing licenses.
We talk deer.  Mitch from Midwest Mass Outdoors explains the seed mixes he has for spring and summer planting.  Lucas says it is legal to Grow.  Legal to mow. But it is not legal to THROW.  Murray's has these innovative seed mixes for deer feed next fall.
Roberta (Bob's identical twin sister) Is in full plant mode.  Murray's Outdoors is ready to serve your spring garden and floral needs.  Just like when Beth had it...we hope.
Come by to talk fishing while your significant other trolls the floral and garden side. Good Luck, Good Fishing and Good Gardening.
