Bob Ur Boone, has been out on the river this week. He's touching the fish with a twelve foot pole. Catching several species.
We talk with Lucas Dever, Iowa DNR about the opening of migratory waterfowl season: doves and teal. He also discusses squirrel season, limits, guns, etc.
A premier maker of Dip Worms for catfish talks about his business and his product. Jon Matthews is second generation and gives a great history as well as good tips on how to use J and N Dip Worms.

Not one of our favorite weeks but the hottest days of summer could be behind us. Bob keeps fishing and building. AC kept his friends comfortable all week.

If you were hit by a truck hauling minnows, you could have recourse as the driver had been up all night remodeling a house at Murray's Outdoors.
Yes, it was Bob Urbain who is living life in the fast lane.
Larry talks about catfish bait and how to lure in the whiskered prey.
Tanner Spiedel talks about trout fishing in NE Iowa. A great spring and fall activity if you want a more genteel type of fishing. Tanner is a young kayak fishing enthusiast with a great story to tell.
Regarding the house that Bob is building....there appear to be wide ranging suggestions from the locals as to its final use. Bob is now deciding on the color of lighting outside.

Fishing is slow and the pattern of fishermen coming into Murray Outdoors is under close study. Bob Urbain and his laboratory assistant, Ben, are carefully documenting each visitor.
They also appear to be having a bit of a challenge with a "Bobber Rack". Ben has analyzed the progress Bob is making and projects 2028 as completion date.
We have a fascinating interview with Brett King, a professional walleye fisherman from Red Wing, Minnesota. He is candid about the heat of competition and the technology now being used by anglers on the circuit.
Bob's got peaches if that will make you feel better. They are good.

Speaking of Hot Water. Fishing is fair but hot and humid weather has fishermen going to the river early and late.
We learn Bob's French heritage (due to Ken's bad joke) and we have a high level debate on what to do if your wife is helping you launch your boat and back off the ramp. Bob has an answer.
We also hear from a Megan from J and L Marine on what they can do to fix a prop or a damaged lower unit. (Is there a theme going here?)
Bob's good friend Vance Gordon talks about the new generation of tournament fishermen. They are young!

It has been a hot week all across the country. Fishing is slow but the fishermen are slower. Fishing early and late is a good strategy and Bob says to find the current and bait fish and you'll find a number of game fish staying in the best water and feeding.
We also had a great time covering a channel catfish tournament last Saturday. Ken Reports on the Winners. He also attended the banquet and reveled in the festivities.

The water is low but that does not deter the dedicated fisherman or woman.
This weekend has a catfish tournament based at Guttenberg Motel.
Bob's got the latest on staying up late, coming to work early and selling fresh seasonal produce along with the usual fishing fare.
Bluegills on the wing dams seems to be getting better. Catch a giant Sheepshead (Drum) if you have heavy enough tackle to reel it in.
We also spoke with Sam Willett, a guide from Dubuque who lays out the challenges of low water in the big river right now. He is also a new grandpa as of Thursday.
Be safe on the river. Submerged obstacles are closer in low water.
